Southgate 1 + 2

Southgate 1&2 is a three-level commercial office development intended for the last, and most prominent site of an inner suburban office park in Brisbane. RKA were approached by the developer with the brief to deliver a high quality building which would ‘cap-off’ the development with a new entry portal, providing an enhanced sense of arrival for both vehicles along Barrack Road and commuters from the railway station opposite the site.

The resultant design split an otherwise oversized floorplate into 2 pavilions with a combined lobby and flexible external space at its heart. In addition the internal landscaped heart provides a unique amenity to the building tenants, with the opportunity to provide indoor/outdoor rooms at ground level suitable for informal meetings, staff functions and the like. The remainder of the floors also feature private external spaces.

The building is designed to suit one tenant or up to 12 sub-tenancies. The intention is that the building is able to achieve a Green Star rating of 4 stars minimum.
The façade systems feature fully operable and fixed shading devices and other high quality finishes including class 2 in-situ concrete, precast concrete and zinc cladding.
